The Boat Race 2022

The legendary boat race – a fiercely fought contest between Oxford and Cambridge universities – is a unique sporting event and one which is easily accessible. This year marks the 76th time the women’s race has been run, while for the men it’s an amazing 167th. The course is 4 miles long and runs between Putney and Mortlake along the Thames, with crowds lining the bank to get the best possible view. The women’s race starts at 14.23pm on Sunday 3rd April and the men’s exactly one hour later.

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens in London is where you’ll find the largest collection of living plants in the world. Take a trip to the Great Pagoda and explore amazing attractions such as the indoor rainforest in the Palm House and the treetop walkway. For a special treat, arrive at Kew via a river trip from Westminster Pier, which is a 90-minute journey.

The Passion of Jesus Play

You don’t need to be religious to enjoy the amazing spectacle of the Passion, a re-enactment of the final journey of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of actors take part in the performance which is free to enjoy at Trafalgar Square. Turn up early on 15th April 2022 to get the best possible view.

Up at the O2

If you want to enjoy a truly unique view of the city then go along to Up at the O2. This amazing experience takes the form of a guided walk – safely clipped onto the walkway – up to the very top of the O2, London’s iconic domed venue. The guide will not only reassure anyone who finds the height a little challenging, they also point out the sights you can see, whether you take the trip during the day, at twilight or as the sun goes down.

Vaisakhi Festival in Trafalgar Square

London is one of the most cosmopolitan and multi-cultural cities in the world, and this means that visitors get the chance to enjoy the spectacle and celebration offered by religions from all over the world. The festival of Vaisakhi is celebrated by Sikhs all over the world, and if you take a trip to Trafalgar Square on the 13th of April, you’ll be able to enjoy free live music performances, work by Sikh artists and free food and drink. You can also take part in family craft activities and if you’ve ever wondered how to tie a turban, then this is your chance to find out.

Stonehenge

If you’re pointing out that Stonehenge isn’t located in London then you’re quite correct, but what you will find at the British Museum, until 17th July, is an exhibition which explores all aspects of one of the most striking stone circles in the world. Objects such as stone axes and gold jewellery are on display alongside a 4,000 year old timber circle known as Seahenge, which is on loan for the very first time.
