Unmissable Things to Do in Central London For Every Age

With such a colourful history, it’s no surprise that there’s a plethora of places to visit in Central London. From museums to parks, we highlight the most popular attractions below.

Things To Do in Central London

Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or longer, or you’re local to the land, you won’t get bored in England’s capital. And if it happens to be your first London experience we guarantee you’ll be back.

Buckingham Palace

As the King’s official place of residence in London, Buckingham Palace deserves a place on your list of Central London attractions to see. Here, you can take in the beauty from outside or head inside for a guided tour. There’s also an on-site shop and the Changing of the Guard is an iconic ceremony you won’t want to miss.

The British Museum

Dedicated to art, culture, and human history, The British Museum houses more than eight million exhibits — from the beginning of time to present day. With pop-up activities for children and museum tours for adults, it’s a great day out for all ages.

The National Gallery

Dubbed the Nation’s Gallery, the National Gallery was founded in the 1800s and houses more than 2,300 paintings — some of which date back to the mid-13th century. Admission is free but some exhibitions require an additional ticket, which can be purchased on the day.

The London Eye

Sitting on the South Bank, the London Eye is Europe’s biggest observation wheel. Also called the Millennium Wheel, it’s the most popular Central London tourist attraction (and in the UK). It takes 30 minutes, and, on a clear day, you can see as far as 25 miles.

Hyde Park

London is home to eight Royal Parks, Hyde Park being one. An ideal spot to kick back with a picnic, it’s home to playgrounds, gardens, a wetland area, historic treasures, and sporting facilities. Plus, you’ll find lots of events including the popular Winter Wonderland.

St James’s Park

The oldest of the Royal Parks, St James’s spans 57 acres including beautiful gardens, the Buckingham Palace Flower Beds, and a cafe. A group of pelicans also live here after they were gifted to King Charles II 400 years ago.

Green Park

Another one of the Royal Parks, Green Park is situated next to Buckingham Palace. It’s home to 40 acres of grass and trees and, from April to October, you’ll also find deckchairs to rent in some of the London parks.

Tower of London

A historic castle and the official Royal Palace and Fortress, Tower of London is an iconic landmark. Take part in guided tours, enjoy immersive experiences, and get up close and personal with the Crown Jewels.

St. Paul’s Cathedral

As the Anglican Episcopal in London, St Paul’s has played an important role in several events including the marriage of Charles and Diana and the funeral of Winston Churchill. Now, you can explore the historical site, its architecture, and the incredible art.

Tower Bridge

Built in the 1800s, Tower Bridge is a picture-perfect suspension bridge. Discover everything there is to know about the impressive engineering and see London like never before from a glass floor.
